Golden Hour at Cromwell Meadows Wildlife Area

Join us for a peaceful paddle through the floodplain forests and freshwater tidal marshes of the Coginchaug River in Middletown, Connecticut. Beginning at the 1,000-acre Floating Meadows—where the Coginchaug and Mattabesset Rivers meet—we’ll travel upstream through one of the region’s most ecologically rich areas. Surrounded by silver maples, black willows, and cottonwoods, we’ll take in the sights and sounds of hawks, herons, swallows, turtles, beavers, and wild rice. After about an hour, we’ll turn back and return to our launch.

No experience is needed - the river is slow, making it beginner friendly. Kayaks, Paddles, PFDs, and educational materials will be provided. Should be able to paddle for 20 minutes at a time. Address will be provided in the confirmation email.
