About the event
Join us for a peaceful paddle through the floodplain forests and freshwater tidal marshes of the Coginchaug River in Middletown, Connecticut. Beginning at the 1,000-acre Floating Meadows—where the Coginchaug and Mattabesset Rivers meet—we’ll travel upstream through one of the region’s most ecologically rich areas. Surrounded by silver maples, sycamores, and cottonwoods, we’ll take in the sights and sounds of hawks, herons, swallows, turtles, beavers, and wild rice. After about an hour, we’ll turn back and return to our launch.
Kayaks, Paddles, PFDs, and educational materials will be provided. No experience is needed - the river is slow and we will be paddling slowly to observe nature, making it beginner friendly. Should be able to paddle for 10 minutes at a time. Address will be provided in the confirmation email.
