About the event
Join us for a 3 hour paddle through the salt and brackish marshes of the Great Island Wildlife Area. Located at the mouth of the Connecticut River, this 588-acre estuary is one of New England’s most ecologically rich habitats such as brackish marsh, salt marsh, and tidal mudflats. This marsh supports a rich diversity of wildlife, including osprey, sandpipers, yellow legs, and egrets. This rare undeveloped river mouth offers a glimpse of coastal Connecticut as it once was—where freshwater meets salt in a thriving, ever-changing landscape. This longer trip is ideal for people which some prior experience, who feel comfortable in a kayak and can turn left and right.
Kayaks, Paddles, PFDs, and educational materials will be provided. Address will be provided in the confirmation email.
Spots are limited.
