Golden Hour in a Salt Marsh
Intermediate Wildlife Tour
Service Description
Join us as we explore one of Connecticut’s most ecologically rich coastal wetlands. We’ll begin our journey during the late afternoon, and follow the tide inland as the day settles into the golden hour when the marsh glows with warm evening light. As the sun sets, we’ll paddle back with the falling tide, a peaceful way to experience this vibrant ecosystem Connecticut's expansive marshes are an important habitats where fresh water from inland streams meets the tides of Long Island Sound. We’ll paddle through broad stretches of salt marsh grasses that shelter nesting birds, crustaceans, and young fish. Watch for snowy egrets, great blue herons, oystercatchers, and ospreys diving for their next meal. At low tide, exposed mudflats become a buffet for willets, yellowlegs, and other shorebirds probing for invertebrates.
